I had sharp, angry words for a good friend of mine today. The discussion centered around Ad Words. Seems "domestic violence" is very, very low on the list in Google's Ad Words. How did Google make this decision? Apparently, very few people search on the title "domestic violence".
Perhaps it's a subject that is still considered so awful it's swept under the rug? Perhaps women suffering from domestic violence don't need to investigate it ~~ they're LIVING it? Perhaps morphing the topic into real accountability would help?
Tomorrow, March 8th, is International Woman's Day.
It is a timely reminder of both the advances that we have made and the challenges that remain to protect to women and girls from domestic violence and other forms of abuse. As we wrestle with these difficult problems, we must always remember that women’s rights are human rights.
Every night I triage dozens of frantic calls on Domestic Violence. Pick up any newspaper and you'll find horrifying stories on Domestic Violence. Watch Nancy Grace on HLN and hear stories night after night after night.
Domestic violence is a human-rights violation and it is an epidemic in our country and throughout our hemisphere.
Take a special moment tomorrow and give some healing thoughts for women who are abused, women who are survivors, and the issue of human rights.
My radio program, ALL THINGS RELEVANT, has featured many strong women who have survived:
Rosaura Torres, Tauheedah Jabaar, and Karen Overhill. In the upcoming weeks, I'll also be interviewing Robin Smith and others.
Please don't tell me and these strong women that domestic violence isn't relavent !

“People say that what we are seeking is a meaning of life. I don’t think this is what we’re really seeking. I think what we’re seeking is an experience of being alive.”

ENCORE PRESENTATION: The Rise of Indigo
Because we had such a HUGE number of listeners to our program, "The Rise of Indigo", we are having an encore presentation on Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2011 at 8-9PM EST.
Our guest was Judy Fiodono and her SURFice dog, Ricochet. To give you some background on Judy:
She is a certified professional dog trainer, and the Founder of a 501(c)3 on profit called Puppy Prodigies Neo-natal & Early Learning Program, which focuses on puppies from birth through 8 weeks of age as their brains are developing. She also trains service dogs.
One of the dogs in the in the program who was slated to be a service dog, Ricochet, developed too much chase drive, so her role went from service dog to SURFice dog, and she's now raising funds & awareness for human/animal causes through the Puppy Prodigies program.
She's raised over $30,000 in an 8 month period, and a video of her journey went viral on YouTube and has over 3 million views.
Please tune in, through my blog, SAM'S RELEVANT STUFF tomorrow night 8-9PM EST to hear this AWESOME encore presentation ! Player is in the upper right-hand corner @ http://samsrelevantstuff.blogspot.com/

EMPTYING YOUR FEELINGS
A close friend of mine is facing major cardiac surgery. This knowledge has filled her with stress and anxiety. She told me, "...at bedtime i am experiencing such anxiety...."
This is something I used to experience, too.
I have a very easy method for removing it.
It is VERY important to take your time. Really concentrate and experience each point thoroughly.
You're in control; you remove the fluid. At the end you will feel lighter and less anxious.
I'll be sharing this with my friend .
if someone has anger issues, their cylinder may have red or flaming orange color
if someone has depression issues, their cylinder may have thick gray or dark liquid.
you get the idea.

- sit in a comfortable chair.
- close your eyes.
- listen to your mind
- clear your mind
- accept this experience
- focus on your breathing
- see your body as an empty, clear cyclinder
- fill this same cylinder with a colored liquid.
- notice the color and consistancy of the liquid *
- notice the cylinder is now completely full
- "create" there being faucets at the ends of your fingers and toes
- slowly open these faucets.
- watch the liquid draining out of each faucet
- see that your cylinder is now empty
- take a spatula and remove all remaining traces of liquid
- concentrate on the now empty, clean feeling.

VERY RELEVANT STUFF: ALZHEIMER'S
According to the Alzheimer's Association, there are currently 10 million Americans providing 8.5 billion hours of unpaid care to people with Alzheimer's disease or other dementias.
Alzheimer's can take a great toll on the physical and emotional well-being, not just of the patient, but of the caregiver as well.
"It's not uncommon for the caregiver to die before the patient...it's a 24/7 job and often the caregiver has no help...it's a long haul, you cannot live like that and survive."
Caregivers must be able to find some respite...a sense of themselves outside of the caregiver role.
The Alzheimer's Association's 24/7 Helpline provides reliable information and support to all who need assistance. Call toll-free anytime day or night at 1-800-272-3900
This Association also states: "...not only is it very expensive to pay for care in a nursing home, but the patient is someone you love a lot--a mother, father, spouse. Someone who has taken care of you, and so it's only natural to want to take care of them."
